Un Yamada x Kelantanese Traditional Music

The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur together with National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage (ASWARA) will be showcasing the Un Yamada x Kelantanese Traditional Music Collaboration Project. From 16 to 28 October 2019.

Un Yamada, a choreographer and dancer who has been active both in Japan and around the world will collaborate with local talents Zamzuriah binti Zahari , Kamarul Baisah Hussin and Mat Din Hussin as multi-instrumentalists together with Eddin Khoo from Pusaka as advisor and moderator for the showcase and talk session.

Since Un Yamada’s first visit to Malaysia in 2012, she has been contributing the cultural exchange between Malaysia and Japan through dance by conducting workshops for students, creating a new piece with local dancers and also inviting them to perform in Japan. This collaboration aims to create a new dance-music piece with the theme of “Blessings for Life”, which would appeal to audiences, while strengthening and building up the network between the professionals in the fields of dance and music.

During this collaboration the participants will be visiting  Kelantan where they will delve in the traditional arts of  Main Puteri which is the combination of dance and music as a healing method. For info visit @Jfkl
