Why Raffles College, The School of Design ?


It's never an easy task when it comes to choosing the right college after high school. Now that there's so many colleges around, not only you have to decide on which college to go to but also what courses they offer, the credibility of the courses, and the most important factor is the environment of the campus whether it's interactive or simply exam orientated kind of environment. So few weeks back, we attended Raffles College KL's open day to find out more about life at Raffles, one of the well-known design school in KL & Singapore. In case you didn't know, Raffles College of Higher Education Kuala Lumpur was formerly known as LaSalle International Design School and was established in 1994. Since the first ever college in Singapore, they have grown to operate 3 universities and 30 colleges across 13 countries in Asia-Pacific - Australia, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Thailand. With that in mind, students have the flexibility to start their course in one city and transfer to another location within the group to complete their qualification.

Life On Campus. Raffles College KL located at Jalan Ampang, in the heart of KL. The college has a clean and minimalist building design with huge glass windows, capturing all the day light in KL. Other than that, there are walking distance buildings and classrooms built around the main office, creating a sense of community for the students and staff.

All the classrooms are very well equipped with the tools and materials needed for the course. Below are some photos walk-through of the classrooms used for fashion design and jewellery design course.

The classrooms are open until 12am for students to do their after-class studying.

Success by Design. When you are taking design courses in Raffles College KL, you'll be exposed to numerous design competition and showcase your designs to the rest of the world. For example, a lot of design and artwork from Visual Communications school were selected to be used for commercial printing and implemented in the actual advertising campaign locally and internationally. Other than Visual Communications, students from the Fashion Design school has also created a big scene in Malaysia fashion industry like Joe Chia, Man Chien, Justin Chew, Kittie Yiyi, Jonathan Liang and many more.  





So if you are into design, do not miss out the Raffles College's Open Day and get a chance to meet members of the societies and clubs alongside tours of the college with hands-on demonstrations and talks. There's 4 intakes annually in January, April, July and October. Do mark your calendar and unleash your creativity with Raffles College !
