The Ritz Carlton KL in it's second series has invited Executive Guest Chef Lino Sauro to The Library, where he will be showcasing a 4 course Sicilian menu, with pairing of wines, champagne. And we had a chance to sample his fabulous creations..


On arrival We started our meal with an Amuse-Bouche, fresh oyster and topped with generous amount of caviar.

Ostrica
Oyster, Sherry Vinegar Jelly, Wasabi Chips, Avruga Caviar
Wine : Sanfeletto Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superior Docg 

The oyster was simple but with  such an interesting wasabi sharpness to it, While the caviar gives a touch of saltiness to it which suited us just fine..

Polipo
Charred Citrus Glazed Octopus, Risone, Capsicum, Sun Fried Tomato Aioli, Chili, Pistachio Pesto
Wine : Vigneti Zabu Grillo Terre Siciliane IGT

Starter arrived in the form of octopus served with Orzo (rice-looking pasta), floated in a heavenly bath of tomato aioli. It was so delicate, yet rich with flavours, like eating something which had been solely created for our pleasure. Topped with pieces of pistachio nuts, giving little crunch to the fiery Orzo, simply stunning dish and one of my favourites too !

Capellini Con Aracosta
Angel Hair Pasta, Lobster, Seaweed, Carrot

We continued with the entree. The Capellini Con Aracosta was perfectly executed plated of food which offered richness and with perfect succulent pieces of lobster. 

MAIN COURSE

Manzo Australiano
Australian Wagyu, Morel Mushrooms, Horseradish Sauce

Manzo Australiano, Simply a  must try... It was beautifully cooked with a soft and juicy texture, that is caramelized and melts in you mouth. Also the side of well roasted potatoes and snap peas were excellent pairing.

Zuppa Di Pesce Gattopardo
Signature Gattopardo Seafood Stew
Wine : Vigneti Zabu Grillo Terre Siciliane IGT

The other choice of mains available for selection is the Signature Gattopardo Seafood Stew. An honest and satisfying bowl of seafood stew. which had a nice depth of flavour to it, mixed in prawns, mussel, calamari, fish and clams would love this dish on that cold rainy days.

Cassata
Sicilian Ricotta Cheese Cake

Dessert was extremely unusual, but in a good way. It's not your ordinary and traditional cheese cake. The cheese cake was presented in a deconstructive form on top of an outstanding home-made chocolate ice-cream with a slight orange tangy-ness to it. The dessert just had everything going for it from its picture perfect presentation, right through to its rich and well-flavoured cheese, all the way to its crumbly and sparkling dried raspberry fruits. every bite a joy to the palate.

The Sicilian cuisine was certainly an experience, I'm glad I had. Again with RM 250 per person for a 4 course menu, it's great value!
