XENRI @ Wisma Elken OUG
Have tried a lot of Japanese restaurants but Japanese fine dining, XENRI would be the first. In case you are wondering, XENRI is just situated at Wisma Elken in Jalan Kelang Lama (aka OUG). It's just roughly 5 minutes away from Mid Valley.
From the outside, it might look like some ordinary Japanese restaurants but once you step inside, you will be welcomed with the simple yet authentic Japanese decoration and design. Also not to mention the lovely Japanese ladies that will be entertaining the diners with some instrumental music played using the Japanese Koto, bringing you a true Japanese dining experience...

The first dish on the XENRI Kaiseki menu is something that I love the most and also couldn't forget, which is Aburi Hokkaido Mukimi Hotate.

Seared Hokkaido Diver Scallop with Purple Sea Urchin Glace
I adore every bit of this beautiful and flavourful dish. Oh, the juicy and soft scallops paired with the creamy and salty sea urchin glace, it's heavenly. Every bite I took was simply delightful. Honestly, I can see myself coming here again and again just for this heavenly dish. Oh dear... Highly recommended !
Poached Masu with Organic Apple Dressing
Poached Masu with Organic Apple Dressing
Masu that's poached to perfection. You can feel each and every fillet of the Masu melts in your mouth. And pairing it with the apple dressing and salty egg roes, it's like an explosion of sweet, sour and salty flavor in your mouth - really refreshing !
Chawanmushi with Smoked Foie Gras
Slow Cooked French MeltiqueBeef
Meltique beef that's slow cooked with charcoal wrapped around it. The Meltique beef is very soft and juicy, but distribution of ligaments and lean meat on the slice of beef leaves a lot to be desired.

Mountain Pepper Baby Sardine Rice Wrapped with Magnolia Leaf
A perfectly cooked rice with heaps of baby sardine in it. Simple, Light and Flavorful, Buttery at the same time. If you need a slight kick of flavor, you can always add a small amount of the Japanese fermented soybean for a hint of saltiness, but I personally like it without, as the baby sardine gives the just right amount of saltiness for my liking.
Smoked Saba Mackerel Bisque
Smoked Saba Mackerel Bisque (soup) was really yummy, I can literally tell that it was very lightly seasoned and the sweetness of the Saba Mackerel was very well retained.
