For a lot of reasons, I was not a fan of my last trip to India. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful country but there is something about extreme salesmen that put a dent on a trip. Though, Lakmé would be a reason I’d return there. The brand produces good quality make up with a reasonable price tag. So you could imagine my excitement to attend their launching event for the Face Sculpt range in The Library, Mid Valley.
I love makeup - from watching a tonne of makeup guru’s on Youtube to sometimes even experimenting with making my own but I have real issues with contouring. With skin tone like mine, it's sometimes difficult to find the right tones and textures to create the right finish to create that enviable sculpted look. I thought of giving up but Lakme restored my faith to try again.
LAKME ABSOLUTE SCULPT LAUNCH
The launch was set up in a faux glamour manner – which is pretty accurate to the Lakme brand. The models that were presented to us came with different looks that can be done with the new Sculpt range. There was an expert makeup artist present to achieve the sculpted face, sculpt eyes and sculpt lips look successfully. Boy oh boy, was I ever more ready to be schooled.
I absolutely loved the lip colour range that came with a variety of 12 dramatic shades and trying one of the colours myself, I found that it lasted much longer than anything else I own and the colour matched well with my day to day makeup look. Which was surprising for a very light colour – Rose Bloom. I also found that it was highly pigmented and expresses dimension even before putting on some finishing powder.
Many of the guests there and myself included were fascinated with Lakmé Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse Foundation. Not because of its mouthful name but the foundation itself blends easily into the skin and provides a dewy texture. If you’re looking to contour I’d say go with the darkest shade and apply it under your cheekbones while blending downwards to emphasise and refine your cheekbone and jawline.
My favourite from the range is the Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate aka eyeliner. As a young Indian girl growing up with a tonne of Bollywood films, the one actress that stood out with her beauty and elegance is Kareena Kapoor. What got me most about her is her eyes. Turns out she happens to be the Brand Ambassador for Lakme and this range! So obviously, to get that commanding yet elegant eye look, I’d look no further than the Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate. It is long lasting, water resistant and smudge proof, jet black kohl pencil for the perfect sculpt eye. Thanks to the unique moisturising ceramides it soothed and softened my lashes. There are more products in the Sculpt range that I’d love to share though I didn’t get the chance to try them all. Hopefully, I will soon. Though if you have please share your experience with us.
