After a week-long of feasting over Chinese New Year, it’s nice to turn to something more refreshing and tangy for a change. And no cuisine refreshes the palate in a better way than Vietnamese cuisine.

Generally a new ‘kid’ on the block, An Viet opened its doors in The Gardens Mall late last year. Believing in minimizing food wastage, An Viet serves its noodles and rice in various portion choices, so that you can choose to be served only what you can finish.

An Viet Vietnamese Food @ The Gardens Mall, KL

Dining at An Viet was a delightful experience. If you fancy something that’s tantalizing to your taste buds and fresh at the same time, then you should make a beeline here. There are even dishes which I have never heard of or tasted in any other Vietnamese restaurants!

An Viet : (Left) Vietnamese Spring Rolls, (Center) Bun Cha; (Right) Grilled Lemongrass Chicken with Rice

Start off your meal with the ever famous Vietnamese spring rolls. An appetizer of prawns, vegetables, rice vermicelli and mint leaves wrapped in rice paper, these spring rolls are made to order. The vegetables are fresh and crisp, and the accompanying dip makes a wonderful combination. Priced at RM8.90, it is one of the freshest spring rolls I have ever tasted at a Vietnamese restaurant!

Another wonderful appetizer is the Vietnamese pizza or Bánh Tráng Nướng (RM8.90). This is one dish I have never seen in other Vietnamese restaurants in Malaysia before. It is a folded piece of thinly grilled rice paper loaded with minced pork, eggs, shallots and other ingredients. It is tasty and crispy.

For main course, I had the Bun Cha (RM17.90). It is delicious! You are supposed to tear up the lettuce and herbs, dunk it into the dipping sauce, and then dip the noodles in and eat it together with the grilled pork patties and pork belly. Simply yummy!

Another main course is the Grilled Lemongrass Chicken with Rice (RM15.90).  The chicken is well marinated and the lemongrass makes it fragrant.

An Viet Dessert : (Left) Lime and Lemongrass Sorbet; (Right) Viet-Ffogato

For dessert, I tried the Lime and Lemongrass Sorbet (RM7.90) which is truly refreshing. Finally, a must-try at An Viet, is their Viet-Ffogato (RM9.90). It is Vietnamese coffee served with condensed milk ice-cream. Truly a winner!

I must say that An Viet is indeed a wonderful addition to The Gardens Mall KL as the food is truly fresh, tasty and one-of-a-kind. For foodies, it is definitely something not to be missed!
