Malaysia will mark as the stepping-stone for this chain restaurant in South East Asia with plans on expanding to other locations in the near future.
Red Lobster Restaurant Review
Lobsters from Sabah. Malaysia. Price : Seasonal.
Lobsters from Maine, USA. Price : Seasonal
The introduction of Red Lobster was possible through the newly formed relationship between the Secret Recipe F & B Group and Darden Restaurants, Inc (whom also owns: Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse).
Before we begin the review, I’d like to say that I’ve actually tried out Red Lobster before in the United States (Virginia and New York), so I knew what to expect in general. Nevertheless, I was still excited to see what the KL chain had in store.
Complimentary Chedder Biscuits
So, to start off this seafood feast, we were first served with the complimentary Cheddar Biscuits. Let me tell you something, eating those biscuits just brought back memories. The biscuits were light, buttery, and just heavenly. Secretly, I want to marry them if I could.
Lobster Pizza - RM 36.90
Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp - RM. 22.90
Lobster Bisque Soup - Cup - RM 11.90 / Bowl - RM 19.90
Now onto the appetizers, we had the Lobster Pizza along with the Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimps. Personally, the shrimp was interesting but pairing it with the coconut is rather sweet for my tastebud. As for the pizza, it was light and the lobster made it refreshing. Yum Yum ! :)
We also had the Lobster Bisque soup, it’s a very hearty soup with lobster bits in it, but after a while the richness from the cream of the soup can get a bit too much, so I recommend small portion for the right fix.
Bar Harbor Lobster Bake - RM 109.90
For main course, we had the Bar Harbor Lobster Bake, which was a roasted split tail lobster accompanied with shrimps, scallops, muscles and linguini in a seafood broth. Let’s talk about portion size; this thing is huge, so I suggest sharing this dish unless you have a big appetite. The overall taste was flavourful !
Grilled Lobster, Shrimp and Scallops - RM 99.90
We also had the Grilled Lobster, Shrimp, and Scallops. Overall, the grilled lobster and shrimps were fragrant and the scallops were cooked to perfection.
Crab & Roasted Seafood Bake - RM 74.90
In addition, we had the Crab & Roasted Seafood Bake. First off, let us admire the size of this beautiful crab. Like, wow. The crab was great as long as you squeeze the lemon on it and dip with the butter served on the side, as the brininess of the salt taste can get a little strong for the taste buds.
Lobster and Steak Burger - RM 69.90
Furthermore, we had the Lobster and Steak Burger. Now if you are a meat eater but you still want a bit of seafood, then this dish is for you. It’s basically the best of both worlds. Overall, this dish was unique and would recommend to novice seafood eaters to give this a try ! :D
*All the dishes mentioned above that included lobsters in the mix are from Maine, USA.
Double Chocolate Torte - RM 15.90
Cheese Cake - RM 15.90
Honestly, by the time it was dessert I was already in the midst of a food coma. For dessert we had the Double Chocolate Torte and the Cheese Cake. The chocolate torte was very rich, so if you are a choco-holic then this is the path for you. As for the cheesecake, it was definitely a delight for me to eat as it was light and not too dense.
Overall, it was a good experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant was quaint and the setting was very family oriented-like, the waiters were quick on their feet, and the food was served on time. Thumbs up for them ! :)
