Senjyu : Hana Moriawase - RM 47.99

In Japanese cuisine, they'll always kick start with a fresh plateful of sashimi. So in this spanking new Senjyu menu, they have exquisite assortment of luscious and thick sashimi ranging from raw tuna, salmon, surf clam, octopus and butterfish. The thick piece of salmon and butterfish literally melted in my mouth, rendering a fresh buttery aftertaste. It's definitely a plate of sashimi that you must not miss. Well if you don't fancy raw stuff, you can opt for it to be cooked and Senjyu will have it lightly grilled for you, just for you. :)

Food Review Senjyu Japanese Restaurant : Wasabi
Senjyu Japanese Restaurant Review: Wasabi

Nothing better than pairing the piece of sashimi with a dallop of Wasabi because their Wasabi ain't the ordinary powder form of Wasabi, but instead it's freshly grated from the kitchen. Well you know me, I'm not so much of a Wasabi fan due to the strong kick upon entering my throat, and to my surprise, this freshly grated Wasabi was so smooth yet flavourful, that it doesn't overshadow the taste of sashimi with it's strong kick.

Senjyu : Oyster Sashimi - RM 17.99/piece & RM 87.99 for half dozen

After indulging in the fresh sashimi, here comes the live oysters. The succulent briny air-flown live oyster served with tangy citrus sauce is the seasonal dish in Senjyu new menu and it's also another must try if you are a fan of oysters. The oyster definitely looks and tastes wonderfully fresh from the sea.

Food Review Senjyu Japanese Restaurant : Yasai Maki

Senjyu : Yasai Maki - RM 17.99

The dinner affair then continues with maki sushi and the first in line is the vegetarian speical - Yasai Maki. It's an assortment of fresh vegetables and sweet beancurd wrapped in lettuce. If you are wondering, is there any rice in it, well this Yasai Maki is made up of fully vegetable with no rice component in it. The fresh lettuce wrapping around the vegetables and beancurd makes quite a great and refreshing appetizer.

Senjyu : Butterfly Maki - RM 59.99

Japanese cuisine is not only about taste but also presentation, which you can find it in the Butterfly Maki. It is an intricate ensemble of premium river eel slices wrapped around tempura crabstick sushi roll. Creating the wings around the side to complete the work of art was the sweet teriyaki sauce. The Butterfly Maki from Senjyu really needs to be tasted to be valued, everything from the Japanese rice to the crabstick and to the unagi slices.

Senjyu : Soft Shell Kani & Unagi Mentai Maki - RM 29.99

The combination of crispy soft shell crab and premium river eel with creamy codfish roe sauce on tantalizing deep-fried sushi roll, would certainly make you licking your plate by the end of the meal. Soft shell crab was cooked to perfection with it's crispy skin and it's strands of crab meat literally melted in my mouth, having the sweet seafood flavour lingering in my mouth.

As for the Unagi Mentai Maki, the combination of sweet unagi and the creamy codfish roe sauce worked so well together that it doesnt overpower each other, created an airy texture and smooth mouthfeel just the way I like it.

Food Review Senjyu Japanese Restaurant : Kaki Roll
Senjyu Japanese Restaurant Review: Kaki Roll

Senjyu : Kaki Roll - RM 22.99

If the plate of live oyster earlier is not enough, perhaps this succulent oyster and assorted mushrooms wrapped in an egg omelette would satisfied you crave for oyster. Wrapping assorted mushrooms with egg omelette is rather an intriguing mishmash in eating oyster which you guys should give this a try.

Food Review Senjyu Japanese Restaurant : Kaisen Ninniku Chahan
Senjyu Japanese Restaurant Review: Kaisen Ninniku Chahan

Senjyu : Kaisen Ninniku Chahan - RM 15.99

For the rice lover out there, Senjyu has this fragrant rice stir-fried with a flavorful seafood in their new menu just for you. They have variety of seafood in the fragrant rice which includes the chewy cuttlefish, succulent prawns and pieces of salmon.

Senjyu choice of dessert for this new menu is the delectable Japanese rice cakes with black sesame filling, served in hot red bean soup. I absolutely love this dessert - the red bean soup was flavourful and creamy where every spoonful of it was like an explosion of sweetness in mouth. What a lovely way to finish off my Senjyu Japanese cuisine with a bit of sweetness.

The restaurant seats around 30 - 40 guests comfortably with the cozy environment at Senjyu.
